Always wanted to know how it’s like to live in a cave? Waking up with your private pool that you literally can step into from your own suite window… SAY WHAT!? The Divine Cave experience isn’t just for honeymooners, but for everyone who wants to experience Greece at it’s best in comfort and in style!
The Divine Cave Experience in Santorini
When we island hopped the Cyclades islands in Greece by Catamaran, we knew that our last night in Santorini needed to be in style.
We booked The Divine Cave Experience in Imerovigli, quite a new cave hotel that wasn’t overpriced, yet!
So imagine arriving at this luxury stay, after 5 days living in a boat on the water, totally salty, stepping into this Divine Cave was a dream come true.
The adult only stay is an old concealed sanctuary and completely build out of the rocks of Santorini island with a stunning view of Oia. The hotel lobby, hallway and the rooms give you a complete sense of calmness and serenity. Additionally, this unique stay has a pool & bar, a welness area in an old wine cave and offering personal concierge services. All rooms and suites are equiped with a private jacuzzi, Aegan sea view guaranteed! The perfect place to hide away in your very own Cocoon and experience the true essence of living in a cave.
Set your alarm because around 18h30 it’s sunset happy hour in your very own cave suite. Order some room service cocktails (in my case some Pina Coladas, YES) and watch the beautiful sun set over Oia. The Divine Cave Experience hotel offers one of the best sunset viewing spots in Santorini.
Bucket list, check!
The next day, wake up in style. You can choose to go to your personal panoramic breakfast spot overlooking the sea or have breakfast next to your private pool, the choice is yours.
Things to do near The Divine Cave Experience
1) Visit Imerovigli Town
Just a 15 minute walk away, you can visit a local village Imerogivili with picture perfect white houses climbing down the Greek rocks. To be fully honest, for me, this was the authentic Greek experience I had been longing for. It’s quiet, there are some great Greek local restaurants, amazing views and the place isn’t as known as Oia. You won’t find many influencers and Instagrammers lining up to take pictures. I would recommend for the ultimate authentic Greek experience to visit Imerovigli over Oia.
2) Feeling Active? Hike directly to Oia
Check-out from your cave suite and start your hike. In front of the hotel lies a hiking path that takes you directly to Oia. Count at least 2 hours and go early as temperatures during the day can reach over 30 degrees Celcius. You will find many blue domed churches and locals selling fruits along the way. Unfortunately I couldn’t finish the hike, I only brought my flip flops to this trip and we ended up hitch hiking our last kilometers to Oia. Yeap, I know what your thinking from ultimate luxury to hitch hiking a cab?
3) Book a Wine Tasting Tour
There are many wine tasting places around the Divine Cave Experience, if you have more time, book a wine tour in the ancient vineyards of Santorini and enjoy some Greek local wines with cold cuts.
Practical tip for your next Cave Experience
How much does a Cave hotel cost?
Even though sleeping in any cave hotel isn’t a budget option, when traveling in high season even budget hotel prices range up to 300 euros the night. So we thought if we are already spending these amounts, 50 euros extra doesn’t hurt, right!?
How to get to Imerovigli from Santorini port?
Be careful, Santorini port during high season is a massive tourist trap! You are basically stuck in a port surrounded by high ranging cliffs. Scooters, buggies, cars and quads are quickly sold out. Make sure to make a booking in advance or you will be paying the ultimate tourist price for a taxi or mini bus.
